Italian fashion house Gucci has acquired a virtual piece of land in the metaverse of The Sandbox project, according to Vogue Business.
The acquisition will provide the fashion brand with an interactive communication experience within Gen Z-focused experiential Gucci Vault space created by creative director Alessandro Michele.
Selected fashion items created by Gucci designers will be available for purchase, acquisition, and use in The Sandbox metaverse, the publication clarified, citing the project.
Gucci has confirmed that it is in the process of creating an immersive consumer experience at The Sandbox, without revealing what immersive experiences will entail.
According to the publication, Gucci became the first luxury brand to introduce NFT, which it sold in May 2021 at Christie’s auction.
Recall that earlier a plot of land next door to the American rapper Snoop Dogg in The Sandbox was sold for 70,903 SAND ($458,038 at the time of the transaction).
The Warner Music Group Corporation partnered with the project to open a music theme park in the metaverse.
Apart from that, a groundbreaking collaboration between Gucci and Superplastic has already launched. SUPERGUCCI is a three-part series of ultra-limited NFTs co-created by Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele and synthetic artists Janky & Guggimon. Each NFT incorporates House codes found in the Gucci Aria collection and comes with an exclusive 8-inch tall white ceramic SUPERGUCCI SuperJanky sculpture, hand-crafted by ceramicists in Italy.
