McDonald’s McRib is now an NFT

NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are based on blockchain technology. NFTs have minted artworks with unique encryption codes which allow for verified ownership. An NFT can be anything from a digital art piece to a picture or random collectible. Even fashion designers are getting in on the NFT craze. NFTs cannot be duplicated, which is what makes them so unique.

Apparently, McDonald’s has introduced its first non-fungible token to celebrate their sandwich  “McRib’s 40th anniversary”. McRib has been a permanent, popular item in Mcdonalds’ menu for decades now.

“Our McRib NFTs are digital versions of the fan-favorite sandwich – almost as saucy as the McRib itself – and we’re giving them away to a few lucky fans on Twitter beginning 1 November,” – McDonald’s said in their statement.

Mcdonalds said that all you had to do to win the McRib NFT, was to follow it on Twitter and retweet its sweepstakes invitation tweet – which it dropped on Monday morning – any time between November 1 and November 7. Mcdonalds will choose 10 random people from this list and give them McRib NFT as a gift.
